Jassi, my best friend. Who is living so far in Canada now but yet close to me? It's more than 15 years of friendship. We meet or talk often now, and yet it feels good when we connect after a long time.
It was 2007, if I remember correctly, when he was transferred from St. Ann's to SSDV, our school. Typically, we were kind of opposites to each other, like enemies, but in the last year of 2008, which was also our board exams year, our bond transformed into a good friendship.
Typical visits to each other's homes. Playing and roaming around the city was not very kind of us. After 10th, he left Khamgaon and went to Pune for further studies. We used to meet whenever he used to come to Khamgaon. Until later, I also went to Pune in search of some training and a job. There we meet sometime according to our times, but yet it was a fruitful one. Once, all the classmates who were in Pune decided to go on a one-day Lonavala trip; it was a memorable reunion.

He then further went to Canada, and I got busier in my job, traveling across cities. But one thing till now remains the same: we do connect with each other without fail every year on our birthdays, which have only one day in between.
To add to the irony, I cannot forget his birthday, as my son Vihaan's birthday falls on the same day as Jasmeet aka Jassi - 10th February.
The motive to write this blog was just to let everyone know not all the friends who live near or far from you or are with you every time can be your best friend. Sometimes. Someone living far away and you only connect with him a few times in a year, maybe once or twice, can be a best friend too. You feel relief talking to them and happiness; that's all you need from them—less talk but quality talk!
Waiting for his next visit to India to meet! Missed the last one.
